Adam Whitehurst wins Media Salesperson of the Year at the Drum Media Awards 2008.

News International’s Adam Whitehurst scooped the award for Media Salesperson of the Year at last month’s Drum Media Awards, beating competition from five other nominees in the category.

The Awards, which are held to recognise the commercial side of the media industry, honour the most successful people in media sales and highlight the most innovative, creative and memorable media campaigns from the past year.

Each category is judged based on a variety of criteria, including quality of service, creativity, understanding of client needs and market knowledge.

Adam, a sales executive for Times Media in Manchester, was recognised, amongst other things, for his instrumental work in developing creative solutions to promote Liverpool as the European City of Culture. He began working for News International in 2001 and was the only nominee in his category to represent a national newspaper.

News International also picked up the award in the category of Client Pitch of the Year for Liverpool Culture Company.
